Who we are
JP Finder Jamaica is an independent directory and is not an official service. This notice applies to this website and its API. If you have a question about your data, use “Report a problem” on a listing, or the support address in the footer once it is shown.
What we collect
- Listing details for Justices of the Peace: name, parish, community and the phone numbers or email addresses in the Ministry of Justice lists. These are personal data. Only contacts and meeting places marked public are shown on the website.
- Details a JP adds after claiming a listing: contacts, meeting places, services, working hours and booking settings.
- Your account: your email address and name. You sign in with a single-use link sent to your email. If Google sign-in is switched on and you use it, we receive the name and email address Google provides.
- Appointments: the service, time and place, any short description you write, and the phone number you choose to give. The JP you book with can see your name, email address, phone number and description.
- Notices about your appointments (in the app and by email), and your reminder choices.
- Reports about a listing: your message and, only if you provide it, an email address so we can reply. That address is deleted when the report is closed.
- Technical records needed to run and protect the service, such as request identifiers and rate-limit counters. Logs do not contain contact details.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.
- We do not sell personal data or use it for marketing.
- We do not send unsolicited email or text messages. We email you only about your sign-in, your claim, and your appointments.
Cookies and browser storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We also store your light or dark theme choice in your browser. Neither is used for tracking.
Who can see your data
- Anyone: the public details of a listing.
- The JP you book with: the appointment details listed above.
- Administrators: claims, reports and listings, to run the directory. Administrator actions are recorded in an audit log that holds identifiers and codes, not personal details.
- Service providers that deliver our email, which see the address and message they send.
How long we keep it
- Account: until you ask us to delete it. We then wait 30 days so you can change your mind, and erase it afterwards. Your open appointments are cancelled as soon as you ask, and the other person is told.
- Reports: the reply address is deleted when the report is closed.
- Directory listings: while the listing is public. If you ask to be removed we keep the minimum needed so that the listing is not published again.
Your choices
- See and download your data from the Account page.
- Correct your name on the Account page, or a listing through “Report a problem” (or by claiming it, if you are the JP).
- Delete your account from the Account page.
- Ask to be removed from the directory with “Report a problem” on your listing.
- Complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner of Jamaica if you think your data has been mishandled.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date above.
